Multiliteracies
The role of digital technologies today within quality literacy education is profound. Digital and online materials have enhanced modern teaching resources and with it has presented new teaching and learning opportunities (National Curriculum Board, 2009).
Students need to learn about the different characteristics of multiliteracies when developing their reading comprehension abilities due to the different formats and text types (NSW Department of Education and Training Learning and Development [DETLD], 2009). They need to be aware of the purpose, audience, context and the choice of medium and how that can affect the meaning of the text (DETLD, 2009).
Specifically within literacy, interactive whiteboards and computers can be seen to extend and enhance learning outcomes (DETLD, 2009).
